Connecting to the NHS Server (OSX1)
Connect to the New Hampton School Server (OSX1)
New Hampton School maintains a shared server (a very large hard drive) to save our files on. The name of this shared hard drive is 'OSX1.' While we are on campus we can access this shared hard drive.
OSX1 has the following advantages over saving files on our personal machines:
• Files are backed up
• Files are available anywhere on campus (from any computer connected to the network).
• Files may be saved in either a public folder or a private and secure one.
OSX1 has the following disadvantages:
• Files are not available if we are off campus
• There may be limits to file size on the server, large movie files for example may not be able to be stored on the server
Making the connection from a Mac
1) Click on the 'Finder' icon in the dock (clicking on the desktop also brings you to the finder).
2) From the 'Go' menu choose 'Connect to server.'
3) In the 'Connect to Server' window that opens type: afp://osx1 into the 'Server Address' bar.
4) After the first time you do this, this will appear in the 'Favorite Servers' section.
5) Click 'Connect.'
6) When prompted to do so enter you user name and password (same as for email).
7) Next you are asked to choose which 'volume to mount.' Double click the one named ‘Shared.’
8) Open the ‘Students’ folder, then the ‘Joslin’ folder (highlighted orange), then the ‘Algebra II Honors 08-09’ folder.
9) Open the Word file named ‘HW_09/08/08,’ solve the problem, and bring your answer to class.
Making the connection from a PC
1) Click on the 'Start' menu in the lower left of Windows.
2) From the 'Start' menu choose ‘Run.'

Welcome!
Welcome to Mr. Joslin's Algebra II Honors blog! I will use this site to post homework, quiz, and test schedules, as well as any other important information that students (or parents) need to know. A secondary goal of this blog is to introduce students to this powerful communication medium which is now so prevalent in our society. Please feel free to post any questions or comments on this blog.
