Quiz

There will be a quiz on Saturday (A Block) and on Monday (F Block).
The quiz will cover material in Chapter 12, Sections 1-3.
Inverse relations, graphing exponential and logarithmic equations, and the relationships between exponential and logarithmic equations will be covered.

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a great spring break with their friends and family. It's hard to believe we only have 8 weeks left! We will finish up our work on functions with a look at logarithmic and exponential functions in the next two weeks. We will then spend the rest of the year looking at trigonometry. Please check back here for homework assignments and other useful information.

Upcoming Chapter 11 Test

We will have a test on Chapter 11 this Saturday. If you are leaving early for break, please let me know so that you can take the test early.

The test will be on the following:
- Finding values of polynomial functions using synthetic division.
- Determining if a number is a root/zero of a polynomial function.
- Factoring polynomials completely.
- Finding all roots of polynomial functions.
- Fundamental Theorem of Algebra.
- Rational Roots Theorem.
- Descartes' Rule of Signs.
- Graphing polynomial functions.
- Solving polynomial functions.

Fresh Start!

After a long hiatus, and due to overwhelming responses from you, the students, I will again post the daily homework assignments on our blog. Please check here if you miss an assignment or forget to write the homework down in class.

Also, I am giving each student in my class a letter/number code. I will post missing assignments and due dates using these codes so that you always know what you are missing and when it is due.

Note that I will now hold to the homework policy outlined in the course syllabus. It is copied below.

Homework
Homework will be given nightly and is generally due the next class period. Homework must be completed by the beginning of class the day it is due. Missed homework due to excused absences must be turned in by the second class period following the absence. Missed homework due to an unexcused absence will be considered late. Graded homework will be worth 10 points and graded as a quiz. All other homework will be graded on the following scale.

√+ 5 points
Homework is (1) complete, (2) passed in on time, (3) neat and legible, and (4) shows a comprehensive understanding of the applicable concepts.

√ 4 points
Homework is (1) complete, (2) passed in on time, (3) legible, and (4) shows a general understanding of the applicable concepts. Some of the answers may show confusion of the concepts.

√- 3 points
Homework is (1) incomplete, (2) passed in on time, (3) untidy, and/or (4) shows a lack of effort or failure to understand the applicable concepts. This is the highest grade homework may receive if it is handed in one school day late.

½ 2 points
Homework is (1) incomplete, (2) passed in on time, (3) untidy, and/or (4) shows no effort or understanding of the applicable concepts. This is the highest grade homework may receive if it is handed in two school days late.

0 0 points
Homework is three or more school days late or doesn’t meet any of the above criteria.
